Fact Sheet

When to Travel

Not only is Canada's landscape big and diverse, so is its climate.

As such, the best time to visit Canada is completely dependent on where you are going within the country and what activities you are doing.

For example, if you want to hike through the iconic Rocky mountains, the best time to visit is June, July and August, as these months promise less snow, fewer road closures, more hiking trails, open campsites and more wildlife. However, if you want to ski/snowboard in Whistler or Banff, we advise travelling between December - April.

Clearly we haven't ticked off all options here, therefore, if you are still not sure when the best time to visit Canada, please do not hesitate to drop us a message.

If you are a UK or EU citizen, you MAY not need a visa to enter Canada. However, you will still need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

You may also need to show your return ticket upon arrival and / or complete a landing card upon arrival. At the point of entry, the immigration officer decides how long you can stay, usually up to 180 days.

However, these policies may change due to new COVID-19 restrictions. Therefore, we highly recommend that you check the latest country entry requirements with your national foreign travel office.

Some vaccinations may be required to enter Canada. As such, it is very important to check with your GP before travelling. Your GP will be able to provide you with all up to date travel information and will give you updates if regulation changes.

Travel insurance is mandatory on all our trips. We also recommend that you carry a First Aid kit and hand sanitisers / antibacterial wipes as well as any personal medical requirements.

Travel Restrictions & Covid-19

As it stands, most international travellers are not allowed to enter Canada.

Those travellers who are allow will be required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival in Canada. Travelers are also required to take another COVID-19 molecular test on day 8 of their 14-day quarantine. They will receive a COVID-19 test kit and instructions before leaving the airport/border. Those who refuse will receive a $750 fine.

Travellers are required to quarantine for 14 days on arrival. Travellers are required to take a COVID-19 test on arrival and quarantine for 3 days in an approved hotel while they await the results of their tests. Travelers are responsible for the costs of the hotel quarantine and COVID-19 test. Once released from the hotel quarantine, they will have to continue to quarantine at home until 14 days after arrival in Canada.

You will also need an Electronic Travel Authorization(eTA). You must get an eTA before your flight. An eTA is delivered electronically, and is tied directly to your passport. It can be obtained online before travelling.

All travellers are required to submit a quarantine plan and a COVID-19 'self-assessment' before getting on a flight. The information must be submitted digitally through the ArriveCAN app.
