South Africa Adventure Holidays

South Africa is one of the continents most exciting destinations. Boasting an abundance of exotic wildlife, jagged mountain ranges, pristine beaches, cosmopolitan delights and friendly locals - South Africa truly is a country of unparalleled diversity.

Feel adrenaline coursing through your veins as you get up close and personal with the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino) that roam the Kalhara desserts or encounter whales and the great white shark as they break the surface along the countries coastlines.

Alternatively, if you prefer a city break, indulge in the beauties of Cape Town and explore the undulating landscapes, rolling vineyards (world-renowned), the Table Mountains, stunning coastline trails and epic nightlife scenes.

What’s more, South Africa also offers incredible outdoor activities, including rock climbing opportunities along the craggy Cederberg, epic surf spots dodded along the East coast, abseiling, bungee jumping and Gorge swings, as well as bucket-list-worthy hiking trails that are hidden amongst 5 different mountain ranges throughout the country.

Our Personal Travel Experts know South Africa really well. If you want to find out more about their gorilla trekking experiences or incredible game drives, get in touch with one of our experts and we’ll tailor your perfect holiday.

In general, South Africa boasts lovely weather all year round. In fact, South Africa has many more sunny days than rainy.

Nonetheless, it is important to remember their seasons are opposite to the northern hemisphere; meaning their winner months stem from May-September.

As such, if you are heading to Cape Town, the best months would be between December to February. If you are heading to South Africa to see the wildlife or to join a safari, your best bet is the dry season (May to October). During these months,  the grass is low, visibility is better and the dry conditions mean you'll find more wildlife congregating around the watering holes.

If you’re a UK, US or EU citizen you do not need a visa to enter South Africa and can stay up to 90 days. You need to have a passport valid for a minimum of 6 months from the time of entry and you WILL need to show a return ticket upon entry into the country.

As always we recommend checking the latest country entry requirements with your national foreign travel office.

Some vaccinations may be required to enter South Africa. As such, it is very important to check with your GP before travelling. Your GP will be able to provide you with all up to date travel information and will give you updates if regulation changes.

In some areas, malaria is present and prominent, so make sure you get to hold the proper precautions before you arrive. Again, best to is speak to your GP about the best anti-malarial medication.

During safaris, please wear long sleeves and having good insect repellent for protection.

Travel insurance is mandatory on all our trips. We also recommend that you carry a First Aid kit and hand sanitisers / antibacterial wipes as well as any personal medical requirements.

Please see "Essential tour information" on each specific trip for more detailed information regarding safety, travel, Insurance, flights and more.
