The protection of our fragile environment is at the forefront of everything this resort des. Here’s a quick overview of what’s most important to them:

  • Use a state-of-the-art water and STP plant ensuring no contaminants enter the ocean and making best practicable re-use of grey water.
  • Use accredited eco-friendly chemicals in their laundry and cleaning. Due to the harsh nature of the chemicals involved, they don’t offer dry cleaning services.
  • Have a coral regeneration programme in place. Guests can support this by ‘adopting’ a reef of their own, planting it and watching it grow over the years.
  • Support and work with local charities such as The Manta Trust and Manta Matcher.
  • Have a sustainability plan that considers environmental, socio-cultural, quality and health & safety issues. This plan is measured, evaluated and updated annually to ensure continued progress.
  • Comply with all local environmental laws, standards and regulations. These are kept updated and referred to regularly.

Chasing a dream is about finding moments that improve your life and inspire your spirit of adventure. Take an excursion, but don't just go; allow a local to lead you through the culture and history instead. Don't limit yourself to just drinking beverages; enroll in the sommelier or bartender's tasting lesson to see if you can come up with something good make it onto the drinks menu.

While the beauty of the Maldives is breath-taking, what you’ll find below the surface is even more spectacular. The experienced diving team have the keys to the best dive sites in the atoll and welcome everyone, from novices making their first dive to experts logging their 1000th dive.

In Milaidhoo, there is a five-star PADI dive facility that runs courses on house reef diving, boat diving, private diving, night diving, fluo night dives, Manta Ray excursions, and nitrox.

Marine Biologist

With the UNESCO biosphere reserve and the world-famous Hanifaru Bay on your doorstep, this is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the incredible wildlife in the area from the resident marine biologist. Here you may discover what makes whale sharks tick, why manta rays dance, what makes dolphins smile and help with identification and conservation practices.

Snorkelling Hanifaru Bay:

The jewel of the UNESCO biosphere reserve is undoubtedly Hanifaru Bay, the place where – in season – the world’s largest groupings of manta rays can be seen. This is also the place for whale shark spotting. Snorkelling with these peaceful ocean giants is an unmissable experience.

The season runs from June to November each year and sightings depend on many factors such as tide times, moon phases and currents. Milaidhoo aim to run three trips a week to Hanifaru Bay (weather permitting) and can also offer private excursions for just two, which is accompanied by the in-house marine biologist.

Carbon Offsetting as Standard

Although all of our GoKo holidays promise to warm your hearts, we don’t want it to contribute to warming the planet.

For every trip booked with us, we support a 3-step carbon offset scheme to calculate and neutralise your holiday footprint, allowing you to travel conscious free, for no added cost. This covers every step of the journey where you travel with us, from international flights to hotel heating, transport, food and more.

The GoKo Carbon Offsetting scheme does not focus on just planting trees, but rather the purchasing, persevering and protecting standing forests from deforestation and degradation - helping revive forests back to full health and avoiding the release of stored carbon. This also enables the regeneration of degraded habitats, which gradually re-absorb atmospheric CO2.
