Tucked into a tranquil corner of Negombo's rural countryside, this 200-year-old manor house, now turned luxury boutique hotel, is only a 15-minutes hop from Colombo International Airport. Despite its convenient location, The Wallawwa is not your typical airport hotel, as it basks in lush tropical gardens, boasts stylish design and luxuriant interiors and promotes pin-drop equanimity.

This award-winning 18-bedroom country home was completely but compassionately restored, preserving it to appear and feel like a traditional governor's home. Now, The Wallawwa flaunts a jungle pool, heavenly spa, and gourmet food inspired by its very own extensive kitchens gardens, where each morning, the in-house chef plucks homegrown fruits, vegetables and spices for the day ahead.

As an alternative to hotels in Negombo, The Wallawwa promises to start or end your Sri Lankan holiday in style. Acting as the perfect place to explore the regions long golden beaches, fishing marketing, expansive lakes and old Dutch canal networks, this elegantly pillared home may capture your heart forever.

Sri Lankan capital Colombo is only a 30-40-minute drive from Wallowwa, and offers premium shopping, fine-dining, and modern art galleries. Walking through the fort area and lively Pettah bazaar district with a knowledgeable guide is one of the most pleasurable ways to discover this amazing city. Old temples that surrounded Wallawwa really add to the rural feeling, while good road access to Kandy allows for easy day excursions to lowland tea plantations and elephant sanctuaries.

Colombo, with its vibrant energy, provides a wonderful contrast to The Wallawwa's gentle manicured gardens. With each year that passes, Colombo is becoming an increasingly popular cosmopolitan metropolis boasting healthy food cafés, world-class restaurants, unique boutiques, and excellent contemporary galleries. Colombo has a long history dating back to the 16th century, and its ancient colonial-era buildings wonderfully contrast with the rapidly growing gleaming high-rises.

Negombo has more than its fair share of Gothic churches, and its predominantly Catholic residents are testament to the town’s nickname, Little Rome. The town's beach is a long, broad stretch of sand bordered by large hotels, while the lagoon and Muthurajawela Wetlands form an important wildlife reserve.

If requested, the GoKo Carbon Offsetting scheme does not focus on just planting trees, but rather the purchasing, persevering and protecting standing forests from deforestation and degradation - helping revive forests back to full health and avoiding the release of stored carbon. This also enables the regeneration of degraded habitats, which gradually re-absorb atmospheric CO2.
