Tour Itinerary

The adventure begins in the late afternoon at our cozy hostel, bang the heart of the Lake District. If you are driving yourself to Langdale, please make sure you arrive not later than 8pm. Here you will meet your leaders and guides for the full safety briefing.

Evening meals can be had at the hostel or local pub.
After a hearty breakfast, the challenge begins.

Heading north-west across the moorland, you will stride on towards the first peaks of the day: Rossett Pike. This region is known for the best hill-walking in England, so expect to be amazed.

After a quick water break and a snack, it is time to tackle the great Allen Crags. From its stony summit, the view stretches across the Scafells and Derwent Water. BEAUTIFUL!

Once complete, only three peaks remain! However, be mindful, because the last 3 are the toughest of the day. It is time to dig deep, as from now on, you will require focussed determination.

Next, it is on to the highlight of the day, the craggy peak of Scafell itself. However, standing in its way is the summit of Englands highest mountain range (978m) which is ringed by crags on all sides.

Don't be shy, though, the effort is worth it. From the top, the expansive views cover the Great End and Helvellyn to the north, Crinkle Crags and Windermere to the south-east and, on a clear day, the Isle of Man and the Scottish hills to the west.

Finally, you will take on the iconic peaks of Ill Crag and Great End before descending back down into the Langdale valley in time to celebrate our achievement.

Essential tour information

To get started on your challenge, you’ll need to pay your registration fee and pick your payment plan. You can choose to fundraise or self-fund your trip. Please contact us to get started.

There are 2 different fundraising options for you to choose from:

1. Self-Funding Option:

You can choose to self-fund this trip if you like. Whichever funding plan you choose (either Self-Fund or Minimum Sponsorship), a registration fee is  required. For the self-fund option, this will be due at sign-up.  The self-funding option does not require participants to reach a “target figure”. The Individual, group or corporate team would simply set out to raise as much money as possible for the cause. This option takes pressure off hitting an exact "target amount" and all money raised (regardless of how much), would be sent directly to the charity a few weeks before the trip.

2. Minimum Sponsorship Option:

To get started on your challenge, you’ll need to pay your registration fee and  then  fundraise  on  behalf  of  your  chosen  charity.

When taking on a challenge with us,  we  promise  full  transparency,  therefore,  you  can  be rest assured that all of the money that you fundraise throughout the year will go directly through to the charity that you choose  to support. Once you hit that fundraising target and your place on the challenge is confirmed, your charity will use this money to cover the remaining costs of your challenge. All of our challenges operate on a minimum 50:50 cost ratio and 100% of any Gift Aid or money that you raise above your fundraising target will stay with your charity.

The  remaining  balance   of  the  trip  will  be  due 56 days  (8  weeks)  prior  to  the  event.

With the minimum sponsorship option, we suggest 2 different fundraising options:

Option 1: Independent Fundraising - Here, it would be the responsibility of the individual participant to raise money for a cause. It would be their job to agree a “target figure” (amount) with their chosen charity and would be their obligation to collect all funds no later than 56 days prior to the tour start date. Of course, GoKo will point all individuals in the right direction and will even help set up fundraising pages with the charity.

Option 2: Collective Fundraising - Here, all participants will work together to reach a “target figure” as a team. For example, if a group of 20 people signed up to an agreed challenge, all participants would collectively aim to reach the target figure agreed upon as a whole.

This option takes pressure off the individual and allows the group to work together to reach the agreed target. Here, the 56-day cut-off would still apply.

1.Scafell Pike (978m)

2. Great End (910m)

3. Ill Crag (935m)

4. Allen Crags (785m)

5. Rossett Pike (651m)

You should arrive at the confirmed accommodation by approximately 8pm in the evening before the trek (costs are covered in the trip). You will then meet your GoKo leader, as well as your guides in time for your evening safety briefing.

On the day of the trek itself, you will have a very early start after breakfast. You will be walking for approximately 10-12 hours, which makes your trek a very long day. You can expect to arrive back at the hostel at around 7pm.

Remember, delays can happen, weather can change and the speed of each group varies - so please do try and book flexible return arrangements.

We grade the Lakes 5 Peaks challenge as: tough. This is the perfect challenge for participants who are of an adventurous spirit and can push themselves while in a wild and remote region. The Lake District of one of the UK's most iconic landscapes, so determination shouldn't be too hard to find.

With a strong training plan and a reletively good level of fitness, almost everyone can complete this challenge.

The Lakes 5 Peaks Challenge will include:

•    Trekking for around 10 hours in a single day.

•    Covering 14 miles (22km) of mountainous terrain.

•    Trekking without support, carrying all your food and water for the entire day.

•    Ascend more 1500m in a single day. That’s more ascent than Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest mountain!

A full equipment list will be sent to you at time of booking.

One nights of accommodation are provided in a local hostel within the heart of the Lake District. You will most likely be staying in mixed-sex dorms, unless requested otherwise.

The weather in the UK can be highly unpredictable and at times erratic, so being prepared is the key! As with all mountains, the weather while on the mountains can change very quickly, so what can start out as a good day can soon become very poor. It is very important to be well equipped and prepared for all conditions.   We will be crossing terrain varying from moorland to lose rocky ground. A full list of equipment will be sent you to on request or at time of booking.

We employ experienced and fully qualified Mountain Leaders to accompany and lead you throughout the trip. A member of the GoKo team will also always be present from start to finish.

You will need to train beforehand. We reccomend completing at one or two test weekend of walking around eight hours each time. Most training should be part of an ongoing lifestyle, but if this is not the case then you should begin training 2 months prior to the challenge and gradually build up the level of difficulty.

This challenge is both a mental and physical challenge. You will need to train beforehand; it is unrealistic to expect to complete the challenge without some training if you are not already fit beforehand. If you have a health condition you should consult your doctor before taking part.

During the challenge days there will be no opportunity to purchase snacks. There might be the opportunity to purchase food and drink at the end of the challenge days and so you may wish to take some money with you but we would advise you should need no more than £20.00 per day.

Insurance is neccesary on all of our trips. We will provide you with links at time of booking.

You will be sent precise timings and locations 1 month prior to the start of this challenge. However, please note that you need to arrive at the designated hostel (at the base of Snowdonia National Park) for approximately 10am on day 1.

As you may well know, adventures always carry an element of danger. Our GoKo trips are not just package holidays, they are immersive experiences that go off the beaten path and push can you beyond your comfort zone. That’s what makes them awesome, and that’s why we take safety very seriously.

ere are a couple of important points that you should be aware of:

  •  This is a significant physical challenge over a prolonged period of time. Please make sure that your fitness level is suitable to meeting this challenge.
  •  This challenge involves walked at night. Please come prepared for this by bringing a headtorch with spare batteries.
  • You will be climbing the 3 highest mountains in the UK and the weather between each mountain can vary enormously. Please come prepared with clothing and kit for all weather.

While we always endeavour to provide the best possible holiday experience, due to the nature of travel and the areas we visit sometimes things can and do go wrong. Should any issue occur while you are on your trip, it is imperative that you discuss this with your group guides or local representatives straight away so that they can do their best to rectify the problem and save any potential negative impact on the rest of your trip.

We recognise that there may be times when your group leader/ local partner may not be able to resolve a situation to your satisfaction - if this is the case, please ask the leader to speak to their direct manager.

You may also choose to provide details in your online feedback, which we ask you to complete within 30 days of the end of your trip. But we do ask you to be aware that it is very difficult for us to provide any practical help after the trip is complete.

If for whatever reasons, you wish to contact GoKo directly regarding changes to your scheduled trip or make a complaint while you are already on your trip, or need to contact us in cases of an emergency, please use the following  details below:
