Restaurant:

Gastronomy based on seasonal and largely Portuguese produce, the majority of which is local. Inspired cuisine that harnesses flowers, bulbs, veggies, and herbs from the in-house garden, the chef carefully selects ingredients as he strolls about with a wicker basket in hand, selecting the meal of the day.

Bar:

Chilled music sets the ambiance for discussions over rum-drenched, herb-soaked cocktails. The gardens and the sea beyond are visible from panoramic windows; and offer the perfect place to curl up by the firepit with a warming glass of Port in your hand.

Spa & Wellness:

A world of unique sensations awaits you behind the enigmatic oak doors that lead to the SPA; a realm of seclusion, enlightenment and possibilities. Allow yourself to let go, rediscover your balance, quieten your mind and awaken your inner buddah at Areias do Seixo. Guests must be 16 or over.

Pool:

Flanked on three sides by four-poster daybeds and sun loungers, the swimming pool allows you to escape the sun and enjoy views of the gardens where grapes, tea, fennel, cabbage, and beans are grown. The pool is heated by solar power throughout the year. Only children 10 and up are permitted in the pool between 9am and 12 noon with adult supervision.

Sustainability:

The hotel's sustainability problems are the focus, not a side issue. The hotel instead relies on geothermal energy and solar power (rather than using air conditioning) and recycles as much as possible. Green 'experiences' may be added to a stay, such as a tour of the organic garden or an informal agricultural lesson with local farmers.

A Little Extra:

Areias do Seixo was designed and fashioned in perfect harmony with the sea, dunes and pine trees. As dusk falls, watch the magnificent sunset over the Atlantic, soaking up the fiery colours reflected on the azure ocean.

Sustainability:

A charming hotel with a strong environmental awareness!

The hotel was inspired by a vision: to create a place that looked out over the sea and could welcome people from all over the world, that evoked emotions and touched people's souls.

The site and the concept were designed with a great deal of environmental consciousness in mind, as they wanted to ensure harmonious integration. The main issue was - and will continue to be - to create the smallest possible ecological impact while also promoting environmental understanding among visitors.

What's more, a lovingly maintained garden has also been created with love! An organically cultivated garden packed with fruits, veggies, eggs, fragrant herbs, flowers, and a variety of natural goods that is all used at the hotel - including fibrous plants for bindings; leaves and stalks for decoration; and essential oils for massages.

This space uses principles of sustainable tourism, including:

  • Use of renewable energies and use of natural resources.
  • Reducing Waste management by reducing, then reusing and finally recycling.
  • In the kitchen they try to buy large and returnable packaging. Also, to privilege local suppliers.
  • The organic waste is sent back to the composting center to produce a natural fertilizer to feed the farmland healthily.
  • In the Garden, they use clean and chemical-free fruits, vegetables and herbs grow daily, giving a unique and healthy flavor to the dishes created in the restaurant.

Overview:

These Rooms do not have air-conditioning. The attitude towards sustainability makes you appreciate pure and fresh air, hence, giving preference to different climatisation systems.

Areias do Seixo makes use of geothermal energy, which takes advantage of the Earth's internal temperature, to heat up rooms and the main building. As such, these rooms also have fireplaces and wood stoves for added ambience. Each home is cooled via fans and large windows that allow the Atlantic wind inside.

Shelter:

Take time to appreciate everything around you with all of your senses. There are no walls between you and the world anymore. Soak up the ocean's song, feel the sand beneath your feet, breathe in the lavender scents mixed with salty air, or gaze hypnotically at lush pinewood beyond. Enjoy a unique sensory experience in a charming tent where everything is turned off (just about) but the sounds of nature. The Shelter is a sanctuary to share genuine experiences and get away from it all. Thereafter, it lacks both internet and air conditioning. This room, as a way of life, values fresh, clean air and interpersonal interactions.

The Shelter offers a distinct acclimatization method in its dedication to sustainability policies: solar energy is utilized in the domestic water heating process, aided by heat pumps; there's a fireplace and a fan heater for heating the tent; and to cool down, the same fan may be used, although it is suggested that you open the windows and allow the Atlantic wind in.
