Captivating wildlife, ancient temples, majestic mountainscapes and diverse treasures, Sri Lanka is somewhat of an untouched gem that revels in authenticity and beauty.

The stunning tropical island of Sri Lanka, has long been an undiscovered paradise; sitting in the shadows of other SouthEast Asian countries that have dominated tourism over the last century. With landscapes ranging from pearl white beaches, lush rainforests and hilltop towns, to sacred cities, tea plantations and legendary temples: Sri Lanka is finally getting the love it deserves.

Boasting charm, culture and diversity, this small country houses eight Unesco World Heritage Sites. Therefore, if culture is what you're after, you will have the privilege of exploring the ancient kingdoms that only ruled over the lands and discovering glorious temples, including the magisterial Golden Temples of Dambulla. However, if adventure is more up your street, you'll have the freedom to get lost in the incredible rainforests that shadows its core, climb your way to the top of Knuckles mountain or the mysterious hilltop gardens of Sigiriya and race across the national parks that protect elephants, leopards, rhinos, sloth bears and more.

Fact Sheet

When To Travel

The weather in Sri Lanka is somewhat hard to predict. This is mainly due to the country being affected by two different monsoons.

The west coast of the country is the wettest in April to June (generally speaking), and the east coast is its wettest from November to March. Therefore, (historically), it’s best to visit the west coast in December to March and the east coast May to September.

The temperature, however, is around the same all year round and can easily go up to mid-high 30s in the afternoon, so make sure to pack your suncream.

Visa

Visas are the responsibility of the individual traveller. Entry requirements into Sri Lanka change all the time, so it's important that you check for the latest information. For now, most nationalities will require a visa to visit Sri Lanka. The fee is approximately $35 USD and an E-Visa can be obtained at the following website: www.eta.gov.lk

For the most up to date information on visa requirements, we recommend you contact the Sri Lankan embassy in your country or visit the official website.

Health

Some vaccinations may be required depending on where you are going, when and what you’re doing.

There is a risk of Malaria in some areas so it is worth seeking your GP before you travel (see GP before travelling so you have all up to date information).

Make sure you pack good mosquito repellent, wear long sleeves in the evenings and sleep under a net if one is provided at your accommodation.

Travel insurance is mandatory for all our trips so please ensure you show evidence of your policy before travelling. We recommend that you carry a First Aid kit and hand sanitizers / antibacterial wipes as well as any personal medical requirements.
