Vietnam offers a favorable year-round climate, but it's important to note that different regions may have varying weather conditions.
The north of Vietnam tends to be cooler and less humid. January and February are typically cooler months, with temperatures warming up from March to April. May to August brings hot and humid weather, often accompanied by tropical showers. September and October may see heavier rainfall. Despite being considered the low season, the weather during these months can still be surprisingly beautiful. The end of the year brings cooler temperatures, making it an excellent time for a tuk-tuk adventure with reduced rain and milder heat. In summary, we recommend visiting Vietnam between November and April.
At the time of writing, travelers with UK or US passports do not require a visa to enter Vietnam for up to 30 days (by air) or up to 15 days (by land). This is known as a visa exemption. It may be necessary to present a return ticket upon arrival and complete a landing card.
If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, you will need to apply for a visa before traveling. Overstaying your visa may result in fines or detention, so it's crucial to double-check the dates. A visa extension can be obtained in Vietnam at any immigration office for approximately $100 USD.
