When to Travel
Luckily, Thailand offers favourable weather all year round. However, it is important to know that the north and south offer quite different climates.
The north is cooler than the south and is much less humid. As you can expect, January and February are quite cool, with the weather warming up in March and April.
From May through to August the weather is hot and humid, therefore, expect to experience a tropical shower at least once per day.
During September and October, the rain can be heavier and less pleasant. Throughout the country, September – October is low season (meaning everything is cheaper) but despite its “bad press”, the weather can be surprisingly beautiful.
The end of the year gets cooler and is maybe the best time to enjoy our tuk-tuk adventure, as the rain has reduced and the heat has eased off.
In short, we suggest visiting Thailand between November-April.
Visa Requirements
If you have a UK or US passport, then you do not (at the time of writing) require a Visa to enter Thailand (up to 30 days if arriving by air or up to 15 days if arriving by land). This is known as a visa exemption.
You may need to show your return ticket upon arrival and / or complete a landing card.. If you’re staying longer than 30 days then you’ll need to apply for a visa before travelling. If you overstay you may be fined or detained, so check the date twice! Please note that a visa extension can be obtained in Thailand at any immigration office for approx. 2000THB.
We recommend checking the latest country entry requirements with your national foreign travel office, for UK citizens this is the Foreign Travel Advice section of www.gov.co.uk.
