Location:

Set within an WWF affiliated nature reserves, sits the stunning OasyHotel. Oasi Dynamo is nestled halfway between Lucca, Pistoia, Florence and Bologna, in the town of San Marcello Piteglio.

OasyHotel is located at an elevation of 1,100 meters above sea level, overlooking the Pistoia Apennines with spectacular views from all angles. The 1,000 hectares of exceptional natural beauty is a centre of sustainability that offers distinct ecosystems to all who reside there.

Fostering the perfect synergy between environmental conservation and respect of local culture, the environment and traditional agricultural practice, there is simply no other place like this in Italy. The area is home to a staggering number of animals: from ungulates, such as roe deer, mouflons, red deer, fallow deer and wild boar; to rodents, such as porcupines, squirrels and dormice. Among the carnivorous mammals, in addition to the wolf, which in recent years has spontaneously returned to the Pistoia Apennines, recomposing those natural balances that had been lost, there are foxes, stone martens and the weasels. Among the birds of prey, you can find the goshawk, the biancone, the buzzard, the honey buzzard and the golden eagle. Also the green woodpecker, black woodpecker, the common hoopoe and small passerines can all be spotted.

Sustainability:

OasyHotel in Nature is a hospitality venture that emerged within the Oasi Dynamo Nature Reserve. Through agriculture, breeding, and scientific research, the company manages and conserves biodiversity in the WWF affiliated Oasis of Limestre.

Both Oasis and Dynamo are engaged in overlapping areas of social responsibility, sharing a passion for environmental conservation, an experiential educational approach, a not-for-profit perspective, and a national scope.

Oasi Dynamo sells local produce through direct and indirect points of sale. All profits go back into environmental conservation projects, according to a business model with a social purpose, in-line with the Dynamo Foundation philosophy of sustainability.

Additionally, all OasyHotel guests are fed the food grown onsite, in a direct transition from farmer to consumer.

Farm Life:

Oasi Dynamo raises Limousine cattle. In addition to meat, there is the production of milk and dairy products, offering up a wide variety of cheeses, ricotta and yogurt. Pigs are also raised in the wild (Cinta Senese and mestizos).

The Oasis' agriculture focuses on growing raspberries, strawberries and wild strawberries, giant blueberries, currants and gooseberries, intended for fresh consumption and for processing into jams.

There are sumptuous fruit crops and the cultivation of varieties of ancient grains with low gluten content, spelt and potatoes, as well as horse chestnuts for the production of chestnut flour.

Overview:

There are 16 luxurious lodges (14 Double and 2 Family), which have all been created to provide harmony with the natural world. Outside, large windows and stunning hooded verandas let natural light flood in, while the inside boasts all the features and comforts of a luxury hotel.

Fine Dining:

Located beside the eco-lodges, the in-house Restaurant, Le Felci, is both elegant and relaxing, and houses over 60 seats inside a charming stone farmhouse. Every morning, guests are offered a hearty, nutrient-dense breakfast. Lunch is light and bio, while dinner courses are elegant and refined. Menus are à la carte, with a rich choice of wines from the hotel cellars.

The second dining option, Casa Luigi, is located in the agricultural area of the oasis. It lends itself to genuine lunches in the open air and offers memorable barbecues accommodating up to 100 guests. Here guests can relish in authentic Tuscan recipes, such as grilled meat, homemade cheese, beers and biological wines.

In both restaurants, most of the ingredients used come from the hotels own cultivations and breeding area of the Oasi Dynamo farm.

On the first evening, the chef will introduce himself to the guests in order to listen to any needs and preferences (even for vegan dishes, vegetarians, celiacs and gluten-free).

Breakfast: From 7:30 a.m., freshly baked bread, delicious jams, grains and berries from the region. Guests can also have unlimited coffee, tea and fresh fruit juices cultivated from the land.

Lunch: From 12h00 to 15:00 you can enjoy rich and colourful salads, grilled steaks or just a sweet potato soup or a Caprese sandwich with mozzarella, tomato and basil. The ever-changing menu delivers a wide choice for all tastes and dietetic needs.

Dinner: The in-house chef employs complex culinary techniques, with local products and the freshest ingredients from the Oasis, to create delectable meals that meld sophisticated cooking skills with Tuscany's agricultural riches.

Wildlife Tours

There are over 1,000 hectares of land to explore with the Geo-Guides, who seek out rare plants, wild animals, and ancient trees. With the ever-changing light and shade, guests embrace the rhythm of the forest and the mysterious intensity of the climate. Each tour is a celebration of harmony, as guests take time to enjoy the stunning beauty they encounter while travelling, and take a moment to be one with nature in silence.

Looking for the wolves: The oasis is now inhabited by one of the most fascinating elusive species: the wolf. But are we sure we know him enough? Here, you will walk some of the paths along which this predator usually goes to go in search of prey, looking for signs and traces of their presence. During the journey, you will study video recordings taken from the photo traps set in Oasis to observe the wolfs habits and behaviours.

Horse Riding:

Clear skies, fern hills, dense forests and endless expanses ... gallop into the wild on horseback. This is a phenomenal opportunity for guests to cross some of the most beautiful trails of Tuscany, hidden in the heart of the Oasis.

Horse riding through this region is one of the most beautiful ways to discover Tuscany and an experience you will not forget in a hurry.

The duration and difficulty of the proposed itineraries will be determined depending on the skill of each individual rider.

Biking:

Each guest is provided with an electric bicycle, so they can easily explore the property at their leisure. There are several remarkable itineraries planned out for mountain bike excursions, which will take you along picturesque paths through vast, lush forests.

Thanks to our e-bikes with pedal assistance, even those who don't consider themselves the next Lance Armstrong will be able to spend an unforgettable day exploring this stunning region with their friends or family.

The activity includes initial training to make everyone familiar with e-bikes and to explain how the relationships and pedal assistance work.

After taking some practice on the various types of paths, accompanied by an instructor, you will be able to cross some of the most well-hidden paths in the Oasis. In the midst of splendid beech woods, you will reach some of the most beautiful panoramic points in the area, boasting wide views on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the limestone peaks of the Apuan Alps and even the Mediterranean sea.

Trekking

For hikers, the sheer number of paths to be discovered will enchant you, bringing each and every time you go into the wilderness a new perspective of the pastures and vast expanses the Oasy offers.

For the more daring guests, Nordic walking excursions may be booked upon request, with equipment and instructors on hand to assist you along the route.

You'll set out with one of the retreat's environmental guides for a tour of the Oasis' most hidden paths, learning about the history of this region, its animals and plants as you go. You'll decide on your own route and duration based on what works best for you.

Kayaking & Paddle:

There is no better way to appreciate nature than from the banks of your own private lake. During your stay, then, why not embark on an epic kayak or paddleboard tour.

The Oasis is home to Lake San Vito, an artificial basin with extraordinarily blue and tranquil waters. The adventure begins with a briefing of about 10 minutes held by one of the rescue instructors who will explain the rules of the activities, how to use the equipment and how to prepare yourself. A little warm-up to loosen the arm muscles and you will be ready to start!

Kayak: If you've never kayaked before, this is the place to start. A fun activity for everyone that will allow you to explore every nook and cranny of the lake.

Paddleboarding: A new sport that will allow you to test your balance. After learning how to operate the paddle, you'll do some balance exercises on the board to gain more confidence before heading out for deeper waters.

Farming

Farming is a very pleasant experience, dedicated to all in-residents, especially children. It includes a visit to the vegetable gardens or a walk into the woods searching for seasonal berries, ending at the cheese farm, to see milk-cows and how cheese is made.

Orienteering:

By heading deep into the wilderness, you learn to navigate your way through forests and pastures, way beyond street signs and the usual predictability of the modern world. Through orienteering, you will learn to trust your instincts, truly listen to mother nature and explore in total harmony the natural woodland trails.

How to get lost: Firstly, one of the environmental guides will teach you how to use the compass, how to read a map and how to orientate yourself in an open area. Once comfortable, you will be given a map indicating some points to reach within the Oasis, and it will be your job to find it. You will leave the main paths to enter the woods and learn how to move using only a compass and the sun to help you reach your destination.

Yoga:

Breathing should be deep, slow and controlled. Movements should remain balanced and precise, allowing you to take stock, stay present and refocus. Practising yoga and meditation outdoors, where the air is thin, entices the mind and body to follow the rhythms of nature.

After reaching one of the most panoramic points in the Oasis, you will join the yogi instructor in an outdoor afternoon meditation practice as the sun sets or rises over the horizon.

Contact with nature can help us awaken our spiritual potential. There is perhaps nothing more pleasant than walking barefoot in a meadow or strolling among the trees to find new energy.
