Safari game drive in the Serengeti National Park

Private, front row seats to the greatest migration in the world.

Throughout your stay, game drives will be tailored to suit your preference. Each day, you will have a choice between shorter, twice-daily drives or one full-day game drive, with a stop for a picnic lunch.

The game drives are carefully planned to anticipate the progress of the Great Migration, so you should not have to travel too far to see the herds. However, if the Migration has moved off, or the dramatic river crossings are in progress, you may choose to spend more time on the vehicle in order to maximise your chances of seeing this incredible phenomenon. When the Migration herds are not within easy reach, these properties are perfectly situated in some of the most remote and beautiful corners of the Serengeti, with game drives setting off in search of the exceptional resident game and the chance to see some lions up close and personal.

Included

Hot air balloon over the Serengeti

Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Serengeti National Park on a once-in-a-lifetime hot air balloon flight. As the sun begins to rise, you will greet the sun as you spend the day floating in whichever direction the morning winds will take you. Your pilot is an expert and can precisely control the altitude of your balloon: sometimes flying at treetop height, sometimes lower, offering a unique perspective and unbeatable photographic opportunities of the expansive wildlife below.

At other times you will probably ascend to 1000′ or more to see the vast magnificence and spectacular panorama of the Serengeti.

This Serengeti balloon safari is an extraordinary opportunity to relish a bird’s eye view of the phenomenal sweeping plains below. Experiencing unparalleled sights, you will begin to tick off herds of zebra grazing quietly on the vegetation, enormous grey elephants meandering by a waterhole, wiry warthogs foraging in the grassy scrub and subtle swishes of puffed golden tails will reveal lions resting under shady trees.

Tour the Olduvai Gorge & Shifting Sands in Tanzania:

Visit the world famous archaeological site of Olduvai Gorge, also known as the Cradle of Mankind.

Amazingly, the earliest remains of homo sapiens were discovered here and anyone with an interest in mankind’s ancestors will be fascinated by this extraordinary place. Explore the quaint little museum and marvel at the rugged landscape. This paleoanthropological site in the eastern Serengeti Plain is a steep-sided ravine composed of two branches that have a combined length of about 48 km and are 90 metres deep.

Move on to the Shifting Sands, a remarkable dune of volcanic ash appearing completely out of place on the short grassy plains. Constantly on the move, the dune drifts slowly across the landscape at the mercy of the winds. Intriguing and utterly fascinating phenomena, these crescent-shaped dunes, created from volcanic ash, are formed when there is ample dust on the ground and a unidirectional wind to create the shifting effect. Clustering around a rock, the volcanic ash continually gathers and forms what appears to be a small sand dune.

Lake Victoria full day excursion:

Offering a gloriously diverse range of exciting things to do, you have a full day, at your leisure, to engage with thrilling wildlife, embark on an exciting fishing safari in a traditional canoe, and catch your own scrumptious giant Nile perch for dinner.

A wonderful excursion as one of your cherry picked options is to learn about the work of the Africa Foundation at Lukungu Primary School. Indulge your curiosity and integrate into the daily rhythm of local life as villagers perform a colourful local dance or simply absorb the lush landscapes on your own. Bustling villages dot the shores of Lake Victoria, and the daily activities include fishing and trading in Nile Perch and Tilapia.

Add the forests of idyllic Rubondo Island National Park, deep in the lake’s southwest reaches, for a perfect safari experience. Tranquil boating excursions on a canoe or dhow, offer stunning views of land and water animals.

If you are feeling intrepid, venture out into the forest on a guided walk or hike, or simply relax, swim, and walk through the lush hillside vegetation and across the lakes stunning shores.
